Don't you have a RWD Blazer that's capable of donuttery?

Yeah, two problems though. One, it could roll. Two, it has some stupid Insurance nanny program OBD2 thing that detects if you brake at a rate of 10mph/sec or more. I get bitched at by my parents if I exceed this limit (rates go up).

It is 2 hours away! Sometime over winter break though it shall go on, and hopefully, I won't be disturbing people at 2 in the morning while having some fun.

Allstate. I'm a 17 year old guy so by default my rates are ridiculously high. My one accident (10 mph fender bender that somehow caused $7000 in damage to our volvo) doesn't help me either. Having the nanny thing automatically drops my rate 10%. The thing judges you based on three things: don't go above 80mph, don't brake faster than 10mph/sec (which is really stupid since I our VW has massive discs), and what time you drive (you get docked if you drive between the hours of 10am and 11pm... aka the time when you need to be driving).

Would you ever be up for an oppo meet up sometime? I know there are at least 4 of us around town/in the area.

Man, i'm scared to drive my car in the snow. It was on summer tires the first five or so years I owned it. I really doubt all seasons are going to be much better.

Also it's super duper hilly where I live.

Cliffs: I'm a scardy cat bitch. I will do donuts in the rain though.

Well, it would be a while away. I need my car and I need to find all the oppo/jalops in the area

That sounds worse than I have to deal with. I do live at the top of a hill though, last year I had to floor it the entire way to make it up.

Jesus, man, that's ridiculous. So Allstate doesn't (in the future won't , if it isn't insured already?) mind you driving around in a 35-year-old muscle car, but God forbid you have to do an emergency stop. Do you pay some of the insurance, or do your parents? I'd drop the batshit nanny system and just pay my parents the 10% difference. Hell, I'd pay more money not to have a system like that, and I'm already paying Mustang GT money for my crappy little Focus.

Can you disable it without it knowing? Seems possibly Googleable...

If that becomes a standard practice beyond "let us bribe you with lower rates to invade your privacy," that's it. I'm out. Seceding. Have fun, world. The Dictatorship of Cocolandia has preemptively banned this technology in all its forms.

The nice thing is my Trans Am has no computers so there is no nanny stuff on it. Fun fact: It was cheaper for me to go out and buy/drive a 35-year-old muscle car with few safety features than it would be to drive my mom's 2005 Volvo. That makes sense right? As far as money stuff is concerned I pay for everything but insurance. If I had to pay for insurance (about $1200/year I would go broke). Rates for new drivers are ridiculous, we shopped for weeks and that was the cheapest we could find (after good student, multi-policy, etc.).

Kinja'd!!! Bandit > Stef Schrader
12/05/2013 at 20:36

Kinja'd!!!0

Doubtful... I'm totally against the system but it gives us over a 10% discount. Luckily my trans am has no computers and thus can't have a nanny thing installed. It is becoming pretty standard, most major carriers are pushing customers to use it.

Indiana, Allstate because it was the cheapest we could find. (I'm a 17 year old male so insurance is really high by default).

Guessing the logic is that the Trans-Am would be considered totaled in any collision, but that's still dumb. I hear you on the insurance bit; I tried to shop around outside State Farm (my family's agency), and it's ridiculous trying to get an 18-year-old insured. Erie wouldn't insure me at all. You're just in a shitty situation, man, and there's nothing you can do until you hit 25.

My morning commute will be sphincter clenching. Freezing rain starting tonight and I have to be at work at 7 am. I can drive in shitty conditions. The rest of Cincinnati? Nope, they can't drive well in good weather.

Nice! Although this cold weather is shit. On my way to work I hit an area that was about 10 degrees colder and all my windows instantly froze. On my way home I had the heater on full blast and I still could barely see out the side windows and the edges of the windshield were slowly creeping with frost.

I'm going to have to look in to my heater core or something. Heat just seemed all over the place. (and by all over the place I mean in a select location directly in front of the vent and fairly weakly at that)
